the thicker your hair, the more moisture it absorbs-regardless of your race or gender.

1. PLEASE DRINK PLENTY OF OF WATER-it hydrates throughout the body.

2. try Sulfur 8 or Scalpicin. They don't smell as feminine as hair oil, but these two products actually work !!!!!

.....this combination really works. Trust me-I have long thick hair myself. I got really tired of finding myself attacking my scalp as if I had lice (for the record, I've never had that).

you probably have psoriasis so just go to your doctor and he will give you prescription scalp medicine.

Psoriasis is just a build up of skin on you scalp some where and when you scratch it the skin flakes will fall, causing it to look like dandruff its really no big deal your doctor will give you this container filled with liquid that you dab on every time you head gets itchy or after you wash your hair.

This is actually an infection of the scalp. Infections of the scalp cause scales and patchy bald spots. The best thing to do for scalp infections is to use tea tree oil as a disinfectant by massaging a dime-size amount into the hair once every 1-2 days for about 2-3 weeks until the scales disappear. After that, do NOT use anti-dandruff shampoo. In the winter season, even if you have oily hair, you need MOISTURE.

About your hot oil question - Don't warm the oil. You don't need to. This might damage your hair. Second - use ANY oil - even cooking vegetable oil (corn, canola, olive, etc...). Use it like you would moisturizer! Because of the scales and the infection, your scalp is unable to excrete sebum properly, so your hair has lost all nutrition.

But if you start adding oil before treating the infection, the infection might actually spread further into the scalp. Tea Tree Oil is a disinfectant, so even if it is an "oil," the disinfectant properties will effectively treat the infection. Word of caution - don't ever use more than, say, a nickel's worth at a time. It is very strong oil. Don't be afraid of using it though in the correct proportion.

      - Another awesome oil is rosemary oil, but this oil is also known to affect those who may have neurological disorders such as epilepsy.

Another imperative thing to keep your scalp healthy is to massage it very lightly with the pads of your fingers. Do NOT use your nails. This stimulates sebum to come out of your scalp. The idea is not to make your hair more greasy, but to get the scalp to become healthy. The best way to keep the scalp moisturized without looking like a greaseball during the day is to massage/comb in oil as soon as you know you won't be stepping out the rest of the night and then showering in the morning. I guarantee you, your scalp will be better than ever within a month or so of this routine.

I warn you very sternly, however, that scalp infections are nothing to play around with. Do nothing, and you will eventually become bald. Scalp infections are a known cause for baldness.

Hot oil treatment suggested by your mother is the best regimen for healthy hair. You won't have major hair loss, all your weak roots will fall off, but that is just in the beginning. With regular hot oil massages done once every week, your hair fall should be under control. You can use olive oil, it makes the hair very soft. If your still wary of trying out hot oil treatment, then I suggest you buy a bottle of lavender essential oil. This aroma therapy oil is great for rejuvenation of hair and scalp. Just mix 3-4 drops in a puddle of water inside your palm and gentle rub in your scalp after you wash your hair. Massage with light finger tips, it doesn't make the hair oil and your hair will smell great.

as we know - hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago my husband suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice (you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/ingredients.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

good luck!

not only my husband`s own personal experience + working as a family physician

I noticed my hair was thinning in my twenties. I too tried propecia but it gets too expensive. U can get Finasteride 5 mg tablets and cut them. Thats what i do currently. Also off brand rogain but thats about all.

I am lucky #_ older then u. Seems propecia never regrew hair for me but slowed down my thinning. Finally last year i bought the remington short cut hair clippers and just crop my top short. No bald spots yet but hair is still getting thinner. But if i look at my dad's pics he was already bald at 30 so i guess im doing okay.

Best advice I can give is that sooner or later you just have to live with what nature has or hasn't provided to some extent. Also remember we are our own worse critics!
